We found out about a lot of people going to their original assignment. I'm so excited for them! They are all so cool! There are also a ton of people leaving the mission. I'm happy for them but sad to see them go. We call this "dying". So for me, when I first came out on a mission "Elder Macfarlane" was born, and when I leave "Elder Macfarlane" will die. The "Eric" part of me I guess is just in a coma or something I guess?! Anyway. This week.


We did exchanges this week (when you change comp's for a day) to see new areas, understand how others do missionary work, and take a small break from being with the same person all the time. I have been really lucky with companions so far, but I can understand why people would need a break from being with someone that much. The exchange was with with Elder Winward and Davis. They are both great! I was with Winward for the day. I got a ton of advice. Winward and Davis are kinda sick (in a good way) anyway, so it would have been fun either way haha.

We taught more lessons with the families I talked about in the last email. They are getting so close to baptism and I'm so happy for them. 

We also went to the temple! It was so nice there. I have never been to the Bountiful temple so it was a cool experience. Everything is so pretty. It's the cleanest building you will see in your life. We can do so many things in the temple that can bless you and your extended family.

 July 24, 2023 *my mother exclaimed her feelings on the brief nature of my emails a fortnight ago, so I have decided to proclaim my story how it should be! Overly dramatic for No reason!! (and I'm low key board so I thought this could be fun). Our hero starts off this week in a gloomy, dangerous area knocking door, after door, after door, in search for "the elect". Where is this you might ask? The war ridden lands of the middle east? No. A scorching desert, or an iced over wasteland? No... Davis County...  November 3, 2021 Corry and I took Eric to the Colorado Springs airport early in the morning. Some sweet missionaries took our picture when we got inside. They immediately saw us and came up to shake Eric's hand. There's a brotherhood in being a missionary. You stick together and take care of one another. I love that. Eric flew to Salt Lake City, Utah where his cousin, Mariah, picked him up from the airport. She took him back to her house where Aunt Stacey was waiting for him. Mariah and Stacey took him out to Cafe Rio before they took him to BYU where he got to say goodbye to a few of his friends. Then they dropped him off at the MTC! I'm going to miss this kid! I'm proud of him for making this decision to serve. I know he's going to do great things in the two years that he serves the Lord in the Utah Layton Mission.

I'm not dead

April 17, 2023 A lot has happened, as you can imagine. Everything has been super busy and the mission has been great! Elder Eggett got transferred to Farmington and my new companion was Elder Goodwin! He is a great guy. Now I'm with Elder Owens. Also a great guy! We have been able to find so many people to teach, it's great! We are constantly teaching or finding. Elder Goodwin was a great companion. We covered 3 stakes (or 28 congregations), and it was a lot of fun. Now that I'm with Elder Owens we are back to 2 stakes (20 congratulations), and we are busy. We found this great family who went to church with us this weekend!!! We are so happy for them. Many others are close to baptism as well, and we hope they can make that step soon. I have been in the same place for 7 months now, which is unusual for a missionary, but I love it! I'm surprised I'm still here, but I know it's where God needs me to be I read through the New Testament last month and now I'm goi...
