Elder Macfarlane's Unforgettable Utah Adventures

 February 28, 2022 This week we went on exchanges! It was kind of fun getting to know the Elders in the district better. We also found a super nice member who made a short cut to the other side of the neighborhood. How could you "make a short cut" you ask? Well. It's basically this bridge that goes over the river, and in his back yard. We then can walk through his backyard to the other side of the neighborhood.  We also had the coach from forever strong talk to us on a zoom call. It was really cool! He gave me an entire new perspective on missionary work. Last week we went bowling for pday! I don't think I mentioned this last email, but if I did sorry haha. Bowling is super fun, and I love doing them as district activities. Just enough conversation to not make it awkward. Once it could start getting awkward YOUR UP TO BOWL so it pretty much can't be. February 22, 2022   IW's (inspired walks) are when we walk around to find people to teach. In Utah, we can't really knock door to door because everyone already knows who we are, and probably owns a few Book of Mormons from their neighbors haha! As we walk around I am teach Elder Shreeve the area, and how to do missionary work. It is kind of cool teaching him, and seeing the growth.  I might have mentioned this in a previous email, but there is actually a famous person who lives in my area. I can't say who it is (because the public doesn't know where this person lives), but let's just say this person is on our "do not contact" list. I personally like to be living, you know? Haha We also went to the mill this week! It was kind of long and uneventful, but good at the same time. We boxed macaroni noodles! Me and Elder Gibson's job was to take the box that others pack, and put it on a pallet. They filled a box about every minute, so I had a lot of down time...

February 14, 2022  I've had 6 companions in the 3 1/2 months I've been out. This is the first transfer that I didn't move! Kind of crazy. My new companion is Elder Shreeve! He's a fun guy to be around. He is known in this mission as Shreevo. This week has gone by pretty normally. Still teaching 6 people (which is a ton for Utah). A family of 4 and 2 boys waiting for the parents to agree on baptism. Have the faith that it will happen. Also another girl in our area but the sisters are teaching her so I don't count it for me. Shreeve is getting to know the area really fast, which is really impressive to me. I thought I was able to learn areas decently fast.  It's also valentines day apparently. I don't really care too much about it right now, but it happened. We had a district activity. It was really fun. Board games and getting to know each other.  February 7, 2022 Yes you heard that right. I'm a District Leader now! That kinda crazy to me. Me and my companion called, and got called by President Johnson a few times and he must have been decently stressed, because every time we got more information. It was kind of funny! The first call was to let my companion know that he is a ZL, next he called and left a message saying I am a DL. Long process to figure that out. There were also a lot more missed calls on both sides in between all this. I'm not moving (for once haha). I'm going to meet my 6th in my 3rd transfer tomorrow! I'm excited and a little nervous. I have met him before I guess, but it was during a volleyball game and I don't socialize with the enemy. So we didn't really have a long conversation about anything.  Anyway. This week really quick. January 31, 2022   Hey everybody! How's it going? This week was kinda crazy. One of the families we're working with has made a lot of progress and said they're open to baptism! Hopefully that can keep making those commitments with God and feel more of his love. I also got to go on 3 exchanges (which is just trading companions for a day) with some other elders. During one of the lessons with an elder in my district, he forgot my name... kinda awkward haha. I guess I need to make more of an impression with people. Embarrassing since we've known each other for a month now but its whatever. Another exchange was with the ZL's (zone leaders) Elder Berkabile and Wood, it was nice to understand their job. Elder Berkabile just got the paperwork to go to India when I was with him!!!! So cool!
